London: England spinner Jack Leach did not hinder the race to make it to the national team and said he wanted to bring his best form from club cricket to the international arena to become a regular starter in the Test team.
“I’m thinking about trying to bring my best to the England set-up,” Leach was told by Cricbuzz. “I guess I haven’t done it yet and it works a little bit mentally on how you want to go about things.”
“You have come from county cricket, where you think you are involved in a big way and you do that by performing. Here I think I have not done that yet and I think I have a better sense of this. Understand why this is so? ” ” he said.
Leach remains in contention for a place in the England line up that will take on the West Indies in the first Test of the three-match series at the Egas Bowl starting on 8 July.
The series will mark the resumption of cricket after the game was suspended in March due to a coronovirus epidemic.
“My main objective (is) to bring my best to the party and if I do that I won’t be far away,” Leach said. “We’ve got five good spinners here, so it seems like there’s everything to play, like 30 people playing for all the spots.
“There is a lot of competition in the squad and spin is no different. It is the best of all of us to work together.
“Then it is up to the selectors and not on us who take that place. I am very happy to see Mo (Moin Ali) back. Moe is there as his best player, so yes it will be interesting to see,” he said. said.
