INDORE: The Cricket Committee of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) on Wednesday questioned the appointment of the former India stopper Chandrakant Pandit In form of head coach The state team said four months after the verdict that the matter had not been consulted.
Pandit was appointed as the head coach of the MP Ranji team in March.
The Cricket Committee said that it could only finalize the appointment of the coach but the MPCA kept it in the dark at the time of Pandit’s appointment.
The Cricket Committee said in a statement, “As per the constitution of the MPCA, only the MPCA Cricket Committee can finalize and appoint the coach of any MP team.”
“The MPCA Cricket Committee is not against anyone, but this disagreement is due to the encroachment / infiltration of officials in the role / responsibilities of the Cricket Committee and the lack of structure and procedure of cases,” it said.
MPCA Cricket Committee includes Yogesh Golwalkar, Prashant Dwivedi and Murtaza Ali.
When contacted on the matter, MPCA Secretary Sanjeev Rao called the Cricket Committee’s stand unfortunate.
Rao said, “Pandit has been appointed as the head coach as per the constitution. The cricket committee plays an important role at every stage and he has given his approval for the said appointment. This dispute is being made without any reason. Is, ”said Rao.
Rao said that Pandit has already signed a two-year contract with MPCA.
Pandit has been one of the most successful home coaches in India.
