Afghan investigators to visit Islamabad, Qureshi says

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Afghanistan will send a team to Pakistan to dig up the alleged abduction of Salisa Alikhail, daughter of Afghan Ambassador Najibullah Alikhail in Islamabad, 24 News HD TV channel reported on Monday.

Addressing a press conference, he said that Islamabad would spare no effort to arrest the culprits. He further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken notice of the matter. Qureshi said he contacted his Afghan counterpart M Hanif Atmar over Afghanistan’s decision to recall the ambassador and senior diplomats from Pakistan.

“We will not hide the truth. We want the world to say that they do not want to hide anyone.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that after the “kidnapping” of Salisla, Kabul had summoned the ambassador and senior diplomats returning from Islamabad until all security threats had been addressed. It also includes the arrest and trial of criminals.

Earlier, in a telephone conversation, the Pakistani foreign minister assured his Afghan counterpart that those involved in the crime would be brought to justice as soon as possible.

Qureshi briefed his Afghan counterpart on the actions taken by lawmakers so far and increased security at the Afghan embassy and consulate.

The Afghan foreign minister thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for taking a personal interest in the investigation and praised Qureshi’s efforts to increase the security of Afghan diplomats.

According to reports, Salila was returning home from a bazaar on Friday when she was abducted, tortured and released. Taking note of the incident, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday directed the concerned authorities to put the accused kidnappers behind bars within 48 hours.
