NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria slapped Shahid Afridi for his anti-India remarks, saying his comments have put the country’s cricket fraternity in a bad light.

During his recent visit to Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK), Afridi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of committing religious atrocities in India. After this Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan, Yuvraj, Suresh Raina and Gambhir thrashed the former all-rounder. Afridi also said that people are being tortured in India, adding ‘Harbhajan and Yuvraj are’ forced ‘to react against them.

“Afridi should not use objectionable words for the Prime Minister of India. Even Pakistan PM Imran Khan has never spoken so shamelessly about India and he will not do so in future. Afridi “We need to learn from them and they should know that there is always a limit. You talk,” Kaneria told India TV.

“Afridi must think before he talks on any matter. If he wants to get involved in politics, he should leave cricket. You cannot stay in cricket and talk about political matters. His comments will be on India’s Pakistan creates a negative image of cricket in front. The whole world, “he said.

Afridi’s comments became a major setback for Harbhajan and Yuvraj as both went on to support Afridi’s foundation to help the poor and the needy in the fight against the coronovirus epidemic.

“It is not fair, you are asking for favors for spewing poison against him and then his prime minister in the first case. What kind of friendship are you pursuing?” Kaneria questioned.

This is not the first time Afridi has made anti-India remarks. Last year, he visited to express solidarity with our Kashmiri brothers on the “Line of Control (LoC)” following the Indian government’s decision to repeal Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. He even called on the UN and the US to intervene.
