Air India’s all-female pilot team to fly to North Pole on world’s longest air route – India news

An all-female pilot team of Air India will fly to the North Pole on the longest air route in the world and flight from San Francisco (SFO) to Bangalore on 9 January and cover a distance of about 16,000 km.

“Flying through the North Pole is very challenging and airline companies send their best and experienced pilots on this route. An Air India official said that this time Air India has given responsibilities to a female captain for traveling by polar route from San Francisco to Bangalore.

AI Captain Zoya Aggarwal, who will command the flight, and his team are eagerly awaiting the making of history on 9 January.

“Most people in the world will not see the North Pole or even its map during their lifetime. I feel truly privileged and humbled by the trust imposed on me by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and our flag bearers. This is a golden opportunity to command the inaugural SFO-BLR, the Boeing 777, one of the world’s longest flights to the North Pole, “Captain Zoya Aggarwal told ANI.

“I am very proud to be with the experienced women’s team captain Thanmai Papagadi, Akanksha Sonwane and Shivani Manhas. This is the first time an all-female pilot team will fly to the North Pole and create history. This is truly a dream come true for any professional pilot, ”she said.

According to aviation experts, flying to the North Pole is highly technical and requires skill and experience.

“The thrill of actually feeling like you’re going through the North Pole, where the compass will float at 180 degrees … something that’s really fascinating,” said Captain Zoya.

The longest flight to the North Pole would be another feather in her cap as she was the youngest female pilot to fly a Boeing-777 in 2013.

“I am the youngest female commander in the world on the Boeing 777. Women should have self-confidence, even if they face social pressures, do not consider any task impossible,” he said.

She will become the first woman commander of Air India to command a flight to the North Pole.

Although Air India pilots have flown on the polar route earlier, this is the first time that a team of female pilots will fly to the North Pole.
