AISA calls for vaccination of students, teachers

NEW DELHI: The All India Students Association on Sunday called for free immunization of students, teachers and support staff of all educational institutions “to save another academic year from destruction”.

The student body also demanded that all educational institutions be reopened with adequate security measures so that physical classes can resume.

AISA alleged in a statement that the “ill-planned” lockdown last year “destroyed the learning and teaching process” in schools, colleges and universities, and that online education resulted in reduced access to the Internet and smartphones.

“As the Modi government announces the promotion of the developed vaccine and vaccination of senior citizens, the All India Students’ Union demands the following: Free vaccination for COVID to students, teachers and employees of schools, colleges and universities in the country All complexes should be reopened immediately with all adequate security measures in place.

AISA said, the second wave of Kovid is being cited by various university / college administrations and the government as the reason for the closure of colleges and universities that were gradually reopening.

It claimed that the “real reason” for keeping educational institutions closed is the growth of online education and ensuring profitability for corporates.
