America closer to declaring ‘freedom’ from COVID-19, Joe Biden

Washington: On the occasion of the country’s 245th Independence Day, President Joe Biden said that America is getting closer to containing the Kovid-19 epidemic.
“Today, we are closer than ever to declaring our independence from a deadly virus,” Biden said in a speech at the White House. First responders, military members and other guests were present, Kyodo News reported.
“We have gained the upper hand against this virus,” he said, “don’t get me wrong: COVID-19 has not been defeated. We all know that powerful versions like the Delta version have emerged ”
As the Biden administration ramps up COVID-19 vaccination efforts across the country, it previously announced to vaccinate 70 percent of adults with at least one shot by July 4.
The number of new cases and deaths has dropped sharply since Biden took office last January. But even with 200 deaths per day, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, less than half of the total population has been fully vaccinated.
According to CNN Health, there have been 33,717,574 cases and 605,526 deaths in the US so far. (ANI)
