AP Intermediate Examination Postponed: AP Intermediate First and Second Year Examination Postponed

Visakhapatnam: The Department of Education of Andhra Pradesh has postponed the intermediate (10 + 2) examinations to be held from May 5. In an official statement on Sunday, Education Minister A Suresh said that the state government recently decided after the AP High Court to move ahead with the final examinations of class X and XII in view of the second wave of Kovid-19 raging. Asked to reconsider his stand. “Respecting the opinion of the court, we have decided to postpone the intermediate examinations,” Suresh said.

The minister, however, remained silent on the examination for the students of tenth grade. He said that the new schedule for intermediate exams will be announced once the situation becomes normal.

The state government had earlier claimed that promoting students without conducting exams would harm their careers. It had reiterated that mass promotion would only tarnish the possibility of students making it into major national educational institutions.

However, many parents, students and opposition parties argued that the examination would endanger the mental and physical health of the students. He questioned the rationality behind such an ‘examination emergency’, when the state has been recording over 10,000 Kovid-19 cases for the past several days.

Meanwhile, many people have also gone to court, demanding the postponement of the examination in a given dangerous situation if not all are canceled.
