Apple has today released a new software update for MacBook users. The latest software update for MacBooks – macOS Catalina 10.15.5 – comes with a new feature called “Battery Health Management”, which is said to improve the battery life of the device.

This will be done by reducing the rate at which this feature monitors the history of battery temperature and its charging pattern as the battery ages. Depending on the measurements it collects, battery health management will reduce the battery’s maximum charge when this mode is enabled.

Apple states that this will be based on the need to ensure that the battery only charges to a level that is optimized for the user’s need to reduce wear on the battery, and slows its chemical aging. .

Apple has also warned that the feature is intended to improve the long-term battery life, however, the time taken by a Mac to run on a single battery charge may also be reduced. So, if the user’s preference is to make the MacBook as long as possible before recharging, you can turn this feature off.

Readers should note that when a Mac user updates their device to macOS 10.15.5, this feature will be turned on by default. To turn it off, they need to follow these steps:

– Click on the Apple menu on the top left corner

– Choose System Preferences

– Click on Energy Saver

– Click on Battery Health

– Cancel battery health management, then click OK

– Click on Turn Off

In addition to this feature, the macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update also has calibration fine-tuning for FaceTime Promotion phones and Pro Display XDR.

In addition, it also comes with bug fixes, which prevent reminders from sending notifications for recurring reminders, making a notification badge appear continuously even after installing an update and more.
