New York: Researchers have found that there is no risk to asthma patients with complications associated with hospitalization with Kovid-19 disease.
studyPublished in the Annals, a journal of the American Thoracic Society, investigated whether asthma is a significant risk factor for developing covid-19 that is severe enough to require hospitalization and infiltration.
“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) puts people with asthma at greater risk for hospitalization related to Kovid,” study Researcher Fernando Holguin from the University of Colorado Anschutz in the US.
“However, many international studies show a lower number of asthma patients among hospitalized Kovid-19 patients. These findings challenge the notion about asthma as a risk factor,” Holguin said.
For the findings, the research team compared the prevalence of asthma among hospitalized patients for Kovid-19, as reported in 15 peer-reviewed studies with the prevalence of asthma of the respective population .
They also correlated studyInfluenza hospitalization in the US has a prevalence of asthma with an average asthma prevalence of four years.
In addition, they analyzed the medical records of 436 Kovid-19 patients admitted to Colorado hospitalizations that they would assimilate asthma patients more often than patients with asthma.
The researchers also conducted a focused review of the English-language scientific literature to identify studies reporting the prevalence of asthma among patients hospitalized for Kovid-19 infection.
Three independent reviewers agreed on 15 studies for inclusion in the analysis.
Using local data from hospitalized Kovid-19 patients, they once performed a statistical analysis to determine the association between asthma status and intubation when they took into account patients’ age, sex, and body mass index (BMI) Kept.
“We found that the proportion of patients with asthma is relatively similar among patients hospitalized with Kovid-19. study Site population prevalence of asthma, ”the authors wrote.
This finding is in contrast to influenza, in which asthmatics are more than 20 percent hospitalized in the US.
The team noted, “Using our hospital data, we also observed that in Kovid-19 patients, patients with asthma who had a prevalence rate of 12 percent, compared to non-asthmatic patients More likely than not. ”
The research team proved that many people with asthma with corticosteroid inhalers make it more difficult for coronaviruses to enter their airways.
