RAWALPINDI: The Army Chief (General Qamar Javed Bajwa) has said that Pakistan is under the scrutiny of Pakistan’s enemies due to the province’s “strategic capability”, according to a statement issued by an Army spokesperson on Wednesday.
In his statement, Major General Babar Iftikhar, Director General, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), quoted General Bajwa as saying: “Balochistan is the future of Pakistan and the development and prosperity of the province is the development of the country.
In his address to the garrison officers, the COS emphasized their readiness and efforts in ensuring peace and stability in the province despite the difficulties of the region and distance. .
“The security, stability and prosperity of Balochistan will be pursued and the mountains will be ensured,” he added.
According to Major General Iftikhar, General Bajwa was briefed on “current security challenges in the province and measures including border management along the Pak-Afghan and Pakistan-Iran border”, including at Headquarters Southern Command.
On arrival in Quetta, he was received by Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali.
During his day-long visit, General Bajwa also met with the families of the victims of the Machh massacre and spoke to a large gathering of the Hazara community. He was also given a detailed briefing on security at Headquarters Southern Command.
