Ban on onion exports canceled, B’desh urges India News

New Delhi: With the rise in onion prices in Bangladesh, Dhaka has written to India to revoke its ban on onion exports keeping in mind the prior understanding between the two countries. The Indian government on Monday banned all types of onion exports with immediate effect to increase commodity availability and curb prices in the domestic market.
The latest contingent declaration underscores the discussions and understanding shared between the two friendly countries on the matter in 2019 and 2020, reading a letter from the Ministry of External Affairs sent to India through its High Commission in Dhaka.
The letter requests the authorities to resume export of onions keeping in mind the excellent relations between neighbors.
