Patna: In a major development, the Bihar government has taken a major step to protest the transfer of FIR filed by Bollywood actress Riya Chakraborty in Patna to Mumbai and the investigation by Patna Police in Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case.

Along with the state government, Sushant’s family has also moved the apex court to oppose the petition filed by Riya.

On July 25, an FIR was lodged at Rajiv Nagar Police Station against Riya, her family members and her known associates based on a written complaint by Sushant’s father KK Singh.

Lalit Kishore, who is the general counsel of the state government, confirmed to TOI that the state government had filed a cavity in the Supreme Court and would oppose Riya’s plea.

Kishore said that whenever senior Supreme Court lawyer Mukul Rohatgi would appear for the Bihar government for hearing, she would be listed for hearing.

“We have moved the apex court on the ground that the FIR was properly registered and the state government has jurisdiction and power to investigate the matter,” Kishore said. Rohatgi was also the former Attorney General of the Central Government.

Meanwhile, senior Supreme Court lawyer Vikash Singh, representing Sushant’s family, said, TOI told over the phone that they had moved to the Supreme Court on the grounds that Riya herself had asked for a CBI inquiry into the case.

“Now why does she want to get Patna FIR registered when she does not believe in Mumbai Police investigation.” Police in Mumbai are yet to register an FIR in the case, ”said Singh.
