NEW DELHI: The Lok Janshakti Party In Bihar, which may withdraw its support to the Nitish Kumar-led government, its sources said on Friday that the party accused senior JD (U) leader Lalan Singh of insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
LJP Chief Minister Chirag Paswan met BJP President JP Nadda on Thursday and discussed other issues.
He said Paswan called a meeting of party leaders at the party’s Patna office on Saturday.
Lallan Singh recently took a sarcasm at Paswan, saying that like Kalidas, he was cutting a tree branch on which he was sitting.
LJP has said that Singh was excavated for the purpose of a tweet by Paswan in which the party president praised Modi for ramping up the COVID-19 test to several chief ministers, including Modi.
The LJP leader said, “Lalan Singh has insulted the Prime Minister. We can withdraw our support from the Nitish Kumar government.”
The LJP has two MLAs in the 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly.
Even if it withdraws support, it will not make any difference to the government, but the development was highlighted due to the ongoing tension between the two allies of BJP in the state.
