Bilawal condemned the Balochistan Assembly violence. Demands tolerance

PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday criticized the “scenes of violence inside and outside the Balochistan Assembly”, saying the visual figures were “extremely unfortunate”.

“Scenes of violence inside and outside the Balochistan Assembly are extremely unfortunate. We should not tolerate opposing each other by the force of our ideas,” he tweeted.

Chaos erupted outside the provincial assembly early this morning when police baton-charged several opposition lawmakers and supporters protesting outside the assembly.

Opposition lawmakers have locked all four doors of the Balochistan Assembly to prevent a budget meeting, police said.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan and some MPs later reached the assembly under heavy security.

Following the clashes, the budget session, chaired by Speaker Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, began. Opposition MP Nasrullah Zehri accused police of using violent means to disperse “peaceful protests” outside the assembly.

Why did the opposition protest?

Supporters of opposition parties have blocked national highways in several cities in Balochistan over the past three days. The opposition has accused the government of neglecting development projects in the budget.

Opposition lawmakers warned that they would not allow the provincial government to present the budget on Friday.

According to Dawn, opposition leaders said they would not allow any MPA to enter the assembly unless their proposed development plans were included in the Provincial Annual Development Program (ADP) on Friday. Will give
