Bilawal vowed to elect Yousuf Raza Gilani as chairman of the Senate

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday vowed to elect Yousuf Raza Gilani as chairman of the Senate after defeating PTI candidate Abdul Hafeez Sheikh in the Senate elections.

Addressing a press conference along with Yousuf Raza Gilani at Bilawal House, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded the resignation of Imran Khan after the glorious defeat. “Democracy is the best revenge,” he said. He thanked Pakistan Democratic Movement Chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif for extending support in the Senate elections.

The PPP chairman said that when Benazir Bhutto was the Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani was elected Speaker of the National Assembly. He said that when Asif Ali Zardari was the President of the country, Gilani was also elected the Prime Minister. He vowed that Gilani would now be elected chairman of the Senate.

Bilawal Bhutto said that PDM challenged the PTI government not only in the by-elections but also in the Senate elections and won it. He said that Prime Minister Imran should accept his defeat and leave office with honor. He further said that every institute should work within its limits.

Speaking on the occasion, Yousuf Raza Gilani said that his victory was the victory of democracy. “This is a victory for the PDM and the parliamentarians,” he said. He said that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif called him and congratulated him on winning the Senate election.

He said that the PPP delegation would go to PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and PDM Chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Talking about the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister, Gilani said that the PDM leadership would decide the matter by consensus.
