Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said on Tuesday that board exams would not take place in January or February.
“No board examination for classes 10 and 12 will be held in January or February. A decision on conducting the examinations will be taken later, ”Pokhriyal said during a virtual conversation with the teachers.
He also said that it is not possible to conduct board examination in online mode.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced earlier this month that in 2021 the board examination would be conducted in written mode and not online.
Schools across the country were closed in March to prevent the spread of the Kovid-19 epidemic. They were partially reopened in some states from 15 October.
However, some states have decided to keep them closed in view of increasing number of infections.
Board exams had to be postponed to mid-way in March. They were later canceled, and results were announced based on an alternative evaluation plan.
Pokhriyal interacted with the students on 10 December and answered questions about various concerns regarding the conduct of the upcoming board exams. He had said during the interaction that consultations are ongoing with stakeholders to fix the dates of board exams for class 10 and 12.
There has been a demand to postpone the board examination till May in view of the schools and teaching-learning activities being completely done online.
