IslamabadPakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmad Khan called on Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser at Parliament House today.
Enhancing parliamentary and bilateral relations between Islamabad and Kabul was discussed.
Talking to the Ambassador, the Speaker said that both Pakistan and Afghanistan are bound by religious, cultural and historical ties and share a common destination. He said parliament had proposed a number of changes to trade and visa policy for Afghanistan. He was convinced that these measures would bring the two countries closer. He asked the ambassador to play his role in this regard.
The Speaker expressed satisfaction over the involvement of all stakeholders in the Afghan peace process. He said that a peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan and the region. He said it could serve as a gateway to Pakistani trade in Central Asia and beyond.
The Ambassador apprised the Speaker of the recent changes in policy for Afghanistan, which he said were mainly due to the continued efforts of the Speaker of the National Assembly. He said the Afghan government and people have welcomed Pakistan’s initiatives to facilitate visas and trade for Afghan citizens. He said he was in touch with Afghan political and government officials and could feel their eagerness to enhance bilateral relations and co-operation in various sectors of the economy.
