Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) NIC email service is alerting users to be cautious about emails that ask them to verify their government accounts. CERT-In stated that it has seen a Phishing Campaign for the Government of India targeting users of NIC email service (email.gov.in). The campaign includes Fraudulent websites Email.gov.in Scouring the homepage.
“Campaigns often include emails that pretend to be NIC Will ask users to “verify” their account or other such pretax. This email contains a link to one of the spoof websites stealing the user’s login credentials, “Side CERT-In.”
It is used to send malware-containing emails to other sensitive government organizations and users once a victim’s email account is phished. These mails contain topical and context-aware content to entice targets to open malicious attachments, thus infecting their system. Malware This can then create persistence within the target organization’s network, and can be used for various malicious activities such as stealing sensitive data.

CERT-In is advising users to check the address bar and ensure that the URL is exactly https://email.gov.in whenever you are entering your credentials for the website. “Make sure no other characters (hyphens, digits, etc.) are present in the URL. Do not open attachments in unsolicited emails, even if they came from people in your contact list. Never click on the URL contained in an unsolicited email Don’t, even if the link seems benign, “it said.
