Islamabad: Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman, High Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan (HCNR) will pay a three-day visit to Islamabad from September 28-30. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including members of the High Council for National Reconciliation. A Pakistani foreign affairs spokesman confirmed this on Sunday.
During the visit, Dr. Abdullah will meet the Prime Minister and the President and hold talks with the Chairman Senate, the Speaker National Assembly, the Foreign Minister and other dignitaries. He will address a keynote address at the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad and interact with the media.
This is Dr. Abdullah Abdullah’s first visit to Pakistan as Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation. The visit will provide an opportunity for a broader exchange of views on the Afghan peace process and Pak-Afghanistan bilateral relations and the strengthening of people-to-people contacts.
The Foreign Office spokesman said in a statement that Pakistan attaches great importance to its fraternal relations with Afghanistan, which are deeply rooted in common history, faith, culture, values and traditions. Pakistan fully supports all efforts for peace, stability and prosperity of the Afghan people. The visit of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah will help further strengthen the spirit, brotherhood and close cooperation between the two countries.
