According to a Reuters tally, Latin America has been hit hard by Kovid-19, with more than 11.6 million cases and more than 400,000 deaths. The United Nations Children’s Agency found that children in the area were severely affected by the epidemic.

“Whereas, schools are slowly reopening in many parts of the world,? The vast majority of classrooms? Have been closed throughout the region,” it said. “For more than a third of all countries in Latin America and the Caribbean yet set? School re-opening date.”

The report also found that Kovid-19 was likely to expand sky-high inequality and push more children from formal education. In many areas studying from home, the lack of technology infrastructure such as tablets and computers meant that many children were likely to miss school.

The report stated, “The economic impact of this education? A crisis will be felt for years to come.”
