Washington: A top White House official compared China to dealing with a coronovirus outbreak at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986 for the Soviet Union’s cover-up of melodowns.
National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien said Beijing knew what was happening with the virus, which originated in Wuhan in November, but lied to the World Health Organization and prevented outside experts from accessing the information.
“They spread a virus in the world that is destroying trillions of dollars in American economic wealth, which we are spending to keep our economy alive,” OBC said in NBC’s Meet the Press. ”
He said, “The cover-up that he did with the virus is going to go down in history with Chernobyl. We’ll see an HBO about it ten or 15 years from now.”
The disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the former Soviet republic of Ukraine released radioactive nuclear material that killed dozens of people within weeks and forced tens of thousands to flee. Moscow delayed disclosing what was the worst nuclear accident in history.

US President Donald Trump regularly complains about China dealing with a coronovirus outbreak.
China has denied the allegations against it, and its top diplomat on Sunday accused the United States of spreading lies and attacking the country.
O’Brien said on CBS’s “Face the Nation”, “This is a real problem and has killed many, thousands of people in the US and around the world, because real information was not allowed to exit.” “It was a cover-up. And eventually we’ll get to the bottom of it.”
