New Delhi: South African batsman David Miller has highlighted his Indian Premier League (IPL) round with Kings XI Punjab, saying that he was playing brilliantly in his early days in the tournament under the leadership of Adam Gilchrist.

Miller was having an Instagram live session with former Zimbabwean pacer Pammi Mbungwa and it was then that the Proteas batsman was asked to talk about his tenure with Kings XI Punjab.

“First year, I went to the auction and I was not picked up, literally 10 days before the IPL, I got a call from Kings XI Punjab and they said that we are choosing you and you need to come as soon as possible.” Stuart Broad was hurt so I packed my bag and I went to India, ”Miller told Mbungwa.

“That’s where it all started, it was an incredible journey. At first it was just a one-year deal, but then they retained me at their base price for the next two years. My first three years in the IPL were incredible. Were.” she added.

Miller further stated that he did not get many games in his first two years with the franchise, but said that spending time with former Australia wicketkeeper Gilchrist was a dream come true for him.

“Adam Gilchrist was the captain at that time, I always looked up to him and Matthew Hayden when I grew up, I watched the game of Australia at 3 in the morning, Gilchrist was captaining me, there were so many great players on our side, so a dream for me. Was, ”Miller said.

“In my first year, I didn’t get a single game in the IPL, I had half a game in my second year, I got three games and then in my third year Adam Gilchrist was retiring, he actually pulled both of his hamstrings, I then said that he had scored 101 runs against RCB.

Miller played 79 matches for Kings XI Punjab, scoring 1,850 runs at an average of 34.25.

In the IPL auction 2019, Miller was selected by Rajasthan Royals and if he starts the tournament from 29 March, he would represent the team.

However, the tournament is suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus epidemic.

The left-handed batsman has played 132 ODIs and 78 T20Is for South Africa so far and has managed to score 4,640 runs in both formats.
