Mumbai: An unknown person allegedly called Maharashtra In Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s private residence ‘Matoshree’ Bandra Here, saying that he was calling from Dubai From the fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, A police officer said on Sunday.
The caller called twice on Saturday at around 10.30 pm, after which the police picked him up Security The officer said that in Thackeray’s bungalow located in Kalanagar Colony.
“Someone called the ‘Matoshree’ phone number twice on Saturday night and said that Dawood Ibrahim wants to talk to CM Uddhav Thackeray. However, the telephone operator did not transfer the phone to the CM,” the official said.
“The caller did not reveal his identity but only said that he was calling from Dubai on behalf of Dawood Ibrahim. Both calls were received around 10.30 pm,” he said.
The official said the local police were later informed of the call, after which additional security forces were deployed outside the bungalow.
According to him, no case was registered in this regard.
A top police officer while talking to PTI said, “We are trying to verify that the calls received were from Dubai or some other place. Investigation is on.”
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab dismissed reports that the caller had threatened to blow up the Chief Minister’s residence.
“There was no threat to blow ‘Matoshree’,” he said.
The Shiv Sena leader said, “Police have been informed about the call and the investigation is on.”
