Decision based on statistics regarding closure of schools: Punjab Education Minister

LAHORE: The decision to keep schools closed or open in Punjab will be taken on the basis of statistics, the province’s Education Minister Murad Rass said on Saturday, as he stressed the need for “sensible decisions”.

As cases of the corona virus increase and the government is thwarting strategies to curb the spread of the virus, the education minister said he would make a decision based on the data.

Pakistan has recorded 42 corona virus deaths in the last 24 hours – the highest since mid-July. That brings the country’s death toll to 7,603.

The highest number of one-day tuli was reported in the country in four months as 2,843 people tested positive for corona virus, bringing the total to 371,508.

“People are not happy if I close schools. People are not happy if I keep schools open. All I have to say is that I will be judged on the data,” Ross said in a tweet.

“Lives are the most important. I have zero pressure from both sides. I have to make credible decisions,” he added.

Sindh against closure of primary schools

Earlier, the Department of Education and the Department of Literacy had decided not to close schools or hold winter vacations throughout the year at a time when key stakeholders in the provincial education sector Chair in a meeting with Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani.

After the meeting, Ghani said that the decision of the Sindh Education Department represents the location of the province and the national decision on the issue would finally be taken on November 23, when representatives of all the provinces would meet on the issue and discuss it. Will discuss

It was further decided in the meeting that students would not be re-promoted without sitting for the examinations.

Close primary school from November 24 to January 31

Three days ago, the Federal Ministry of Education sent proposals to the provinces asking them to close primary schools from November 24 to January 31, 2021.

The ministry has proposed that primary schools be closed from November 24, while middle schools from December 2.
