Eating in the COVID era: Delhi’s highest score in terms of restaurant reservation volume, survey reveals

As the restaurant reopened months after the closing, there has been a sharp increase in restaurant reservations and transactions. A recent survey shows that Delhi has the highest score in terms of restaurant reservations after Bengaluru and Kolkata.
In Delhi, 86% reservation was for two. Hyderabad saw families visiting restaurants with 65% of them at a table for four. In August, 58% of the business was generated by Casual and Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) from Casual Dining Restaurant. Millennials were the flag bearers of this increase, with ages between 18 and 35 years of age over 78%.

Recent data also showed that users are now considering restaurants with premium hygiene standards and safety tags. Over 80% of payments are made using digital mode instead of cash / card, due to security and hygiene measures.

Ankit Mehrotra, co-founder and CEO of Dineout, which carried out the survey, says, “Leading restaurants across the country are opening doors, going past delivery and takeout. Our findings have also reinforced the fact that modern-day consumers have supported the increasing adoption of contactless technology among our restaurant partners. This will certainly move the needle forward for the future of restaurant transactions. ”
