As the restaurant reopened months after the closing, there has been a sharp increase in restaurant reservations and transactions. A recent survey shows that Delhi has the highest score in terms of restaurant reservations after Bengaluru and Kolkata.
In Delhi, 86% reservation was for two. Hyderabad saw families visiting restaurants with 65% of them at a table for four. In August, 58% of the business was generated by Casual and Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) from Casual Dining Restaurant. Millennials were the flag bearers of this increase, with ages between 18 and 35 years of age over 78%.

Recent data also showed that users are now considering restaurants with premium hygiene standards and safety tags. Over 80% of payments are made using digital mode instead of cash / card, due to security and hygiene measures.

Ankit Mehrotra, co-founder and CEO of Dineout, which carried out the survey, says, “Leading restaurants across the country are opening doors, going past delivery and takeout. Our findings have also reinforced the fact that modern-day consumers have supported the increasing adoption of contactless technology among our restaurant partners. This will certainly move the needle forward for the future of restaurant transactions. ”

Rahul Khanna, director of Azure Hospitality Pvt Ltd, says, “The F&B industry is struggling to do too much to be happy for these difficult times, and it is heartening to see loyal customers coming back to smile. Happy to see normalcy again and with the help of technology, our restaurant industry is definitely going to be strong and secure together, 6 years apart.

Anjan Chatterjee, President and MD, Special Restaurants Pvt Ltd, says, “Our restaurants have tried to ensure that they are safe for dinner. We have implemented measures such as seating arrangement, demarcating waiting spots in queues and increasing the controlled flow among others. . With the help of technology and certified hygiene measures, we look forward to making the dining experiences safe and memorable again. ”
