Kerala has been an important “catchment area” given the huge pre-epidemic demand for travel between the two regions. Many Gulf carriers, and Air India, periodically deploy wide body aircraft on the Calicut-Gulf route in high demand seasons.

AAI had taken steps to increase the final safety of the runway as instructed. Regulatory authorities should be allowed to handle aircraft extensively in Calicut.
