The federal and Balochistan governments have signed an agreement on the development of the Gwadar Shipyard project. Geo News Reported on Tuesday.
According to the outlet, a function was held in this regard in which Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan participated while the Federal Government was represented by Defense Production Minister Zubeida Jalal. Several other federal and provincial officials were also present.
Speaking to reporters after signing the agreement, Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan said the project was a “historic step”, adding that such projects would bring economic stability to the province.
On the other hand, Zubeida Jalal said that a shipyard was needed in Gwadar for a long time, adding that under the agreement, a ship maintenance and rehabilitation department would be set up.
“To run the shipyard, the youth of Balochistan will be given priority,” he said, adding that the crew would be sent to Karachi and Taxila for heavy engineering and technical training.
