Midfielder Bruno Fernandes said Manchester United might not have the resources that some of their Premier League rivals have, but the fallen giants of English football have the mentality to end their titles.
United last claimed the league title in the 2012–13 season under Alex Ferguson and have since faced a disappointing period, with rival teams such as Manchester City and Liverpool able to dominate the league.
United finished third in the league last season and reached the FA Cup and Europa League semi-finals with Fernandes arriving at the club in January, in which he played an important role.
“To me, it doesn’t matter about other teams. People can say they are better than us, they have eleven better than us, people who come from the bench are better. People can say what they think Yes, I don’t care, ”Fernandes said on the UTD podcast.
“For a club like United, it is a long time since winning the Premier League. It’s too long, I think. So you have to be on your mind – all players, all employees – we are here to win. And I think we have that mentality.
“I came to Manchester to win the trophy. You are playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. This club has made history in the past, a wonderful history. “
United have had a disappointing start to the current season and are in 14th place after three wins, three defeats and a draw in their opening seven matches.
They are promoted to West Bromwich Albion next Saturday as action begins after the international break.
