Global COVID-19 cases: Global COVID-19 caseload tops 173.5 million

WASHINGTON: The total global COVID-19 caseload has topped 173.5 million, while deaths have exceeded 3.73 million, according to Johns Hopkins University.
In its latest update on Tuesday morning, the university’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 173,538,801 and 3,734,654, respectively.
According to CSSE, the US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 33,377,632 and 597,946 respectively.
India ranks second in terms of infection with 28,909,975 cases.
The other worst-hit countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (16,984,218), France (5,775,535), Turkey (5,293,627), Russia (5,076,543), UK (4,538,399), Italy (4,233,698), Argentina (3,977,634), Germany (3,710,342) . , Spain (3,707,489) and Colombia (3,593,016), CSSE data showed.
In terms of deaths, Brazil is second with 474,414 deaths.
More than 100,000 people have died in India (349,186), Mexico (228,838), UK (128,841), Italy (126,588), Russia (122,073) and France (110,224).
