Goa: Teaching and non-teaching employees allowed to work from home

PANAJI: Teaching and non-teaching employees of various schools and educational institutions in Goa are now allowed to work from home, the state government has said.

A circular issued by Goa’s Director of Education Suresh Amonkar said that schools, education and coaching institutes in the state would remain closed till 31 July.

There is a long pending demand of employees in schools and educational institutions in view of the increase in COVID-19 cases in the state for them to work from home.

The number of cases in Goa increased to 4,540 by 24 July.

According to government data, four teachers and a peon have so far been tested positive for viral infections.

Meanwhile, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has asked schools to explore the possibilities of starting online admissions for Class 10 students after July 28, when Class 10 results will be announced.

“Teaching and non-teaching staff etc. will work as far as possible from home and should not be unnecessarily called into schools / institutions.

The circular stated, “During this period, teachers were asked by them to make full use of online training to prepare assignments using original videos, notes, feedback forms, questionnaires, various OERs (Open Educational Resources). is.”

Online classes will not be allowed to be held for more than two hours a day.
