Athens, Greece (AP) – The right government at the center in Greece on Monday named the country’s first openly gay minister in a cabinet reshuffle. 44-year-old Nicholas Yatromanolakis was named as the new Deputy Minister of Culture after being promoted to the rank of Secretary-General in the ministry. The government retained the health and finance ministers and most other key positions in the reshuffle.
Greece is recovering from the effects of the epidemic that led to the deaths in the fall and is expected to cause a contraction of 10.5% of its GDP in 2020.
Despite the difficulties, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis left most of the major cabinet posts unchanged, keeping Finance Minister and Christil Staikouras as Finance Minister and Vasilis Kilikias as Health Minister.
Vaccination was expanded to nine to 50 hospitals nationwide Monday.
