Haryana Teachers’ body opposes the state’s move to depute faculty in schools

CHANDIGARH: Strongly opposing the move of the Department of School Education to deploy the faculties working in the district educational institutions and training (DIET) schools, the Haryana Vidyalaya Sangathan Association has requested the state to provide these premium educational Do not paralyze institutions.

According to the union, out of a total of 600 sanctioned posts of DIET, only 300 are working in these institutions and by appointing current staff in schools, only buildings will be left in the state.

In its letter sent to Mahavir Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (School Education), Haryana, the teacher body has also requested the government to resume diploma education in DIET (DEd) course so that the meritorious students from poor families To get quality education. Highly trained staff for a nominal fee.

In 2018, the state government closed JBT courses in 21 DIETs located in almost every district of the state and allowed such courses only in self-financed or private institutions. While the two-year JBT course fees in the government-run DIET were around Rs 6,000-8,000, private institutions are charging around Rs 60,000 for it.

There were 100 seats for each DED course in 21 diets. About 14 of them were located in rural areas, where five seats in each institute were reserved for local students as the villages gave land to set up the institute. Even the staff posted in DIET are selected through a separate selection process and are highly educated. The infrastructure of JBT syllabus to state-of-the-art DIETs, well-equipped infrastructure and highly qualified regular staff are also affecting the quality of education in the state. There are reports that some private institutions are actually running like “education shops” and running courses in “non-participating” mode.

DIET faculty also have the authority to implement the education policies of the Center through the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and to have various specialized training courses and orientation programs for teaching staff posted in districts.

“The diet consists of several wings which work in accordance with the instructions of MHRD in various fields of academic work. They were already operating with 50% of their sanctioned strength, but now suddenly recruiting them in school would threaten the entire education system. We demand that for an efficient educational environment and qualitative education in the state, institutions like DIETs should not be weakened by the government, ”says Chander Navdeep Bharti, state president of Haryana Vidyalaya Sangathan, in a communication sent to the state.

On 11 December, the School Education Department issued a proposal to depute the DIET faculty in schools.
