On Friday, Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani briefed provincial lawmakers on the security threat to legislation.
“The Sindh Assembly is in danger of a terrorist attack,” Agha Siraj Durrani told lawmakers.
He said that pictures of Sindh Assembly building were recovered from the possession of terrorists. “The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have been alerted to the threat of terrorism,” the speaker said.
It may be mentioned here that a few days before the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly informed the legislature about the security threat, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) had issued a terror alert for Karachi. Terrorists backed by foreign agencies were planning to attack key installations in the city.
A handout issued by the NACTA states that key government buildings or installations could be targeted in an attack by foreign-backed terrorist elements.
“Preparations for the attack in Karachi have been completed,” he said, adding that the provincial interior ministry, the Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh and Rangers had been alerted to the threat.
