According to the acting vice-chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), the umbrella university for colleges offering health sciences, a large majority of students have already taken the vaccine. “Being in the health care profession, all the students and staff were on the priority list. Most colleges have vaccinated more than 90% of their students and staff. A large majority have also received their second dose,” said Dr Jayakar Shetty. RGUHS has about 950 affiliated colleges and three lakh students are studying in them. Presently examinations are going on for various courses including Ayurveda and PG Dental.

Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan said the decision to reopen other colleges would be taken in the next few days after discussions with the Chief Minister. 65% of the students studying in government and government aided institutions have been vaccinated. “Considering the fact that there are many students from other states and other districts, the present progress is satisfactory. For Diploma, practical exam for odd semesters (1/3/5) will be conducted from 26-28 July and theory exam for remaining subjects of 01, 03, 05 and other semesters will be conducted from 02 August to 21 August Will go .
The practical examination for the even semester (2/4/6) is to be conducted from November 2 to 12 and the theory examination for the same semester will be held from November 17 to December 6.
The examination of degree courses for odd semesters (which has been kept completely pending in Gulbarga, Karnataka and Bengaluru universities and few subjects left in some other universities) by 15th August and for even semesters by the month of October is about to be completed. The dates for which will be intimated soon.
