Milan: Zlatan Ibrahimovic has sustained a calf injury and has not broken his Achilles tendon as feared, AC Milan confirmed on Tuesday.

“Ibrahimovic suffered an injury to his right leg muscle during yesterday’s training session,” the Serie A team said in a statement.

“Akilis tendon is completely intact. The player will scan in 10 days time.”

Milan did not say how long the 38-year-old would be out of action, although Italian media reports said he could face four weeks on the sideline, as Serie A’s eyes could be a possible restart next month.

Ibrahimovic joined the seven-time European champion during this season’s winter transfer window. He suffered a calf injury shortly after signing in January.

He returned to Italy two weeks before Sweden, where he was training with Hammarby to prepare for a possible return to action.
