New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday asked the University of Delhi why it felt “threatened” by its Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) by adding two lawyers and a retired High Court judge if everything was “weak clean”. To this extent only, the bench revised the August 7 order of the single judge, which had reconstituted GRC as a five-member body headed by an HC judge.

The bench in its order also clarified that the reorganization of GRC neither imposes on the integrity of the appellant-university nor interferes with its authority.

“In fact, selecting committee members who are not part of the university, but have enough experience, will only increase their stature and more support the fairness of the process, when it is headed by a retired judge. High. Court, ”the court said.

It also stated that the aforesaid order has been passed “only to allay appellant-university apprehensions that any asphalt is cast on its integrity only because the single judge reorganized the committee.”

While disposing of the appeal by the Bench, the Bench said, “The whole purpose of including external members in the committee is to make it independent and pelusid, which can hardly be defective.”
