NEW DELHI: Cricket Australia (CA) and the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) have agreed against the need for a bio-safe environment for the four-Test tour of India in December. TOI has found that CA had assured BCCI that coronoviruses were likely to remain under control in Australia by the end of the year, making the traditional series possible at four different locations.

This will be the first marquee event in international cricket after Kovid World when CA will not be able to stage the T20 World Cup as planned.

The series starts in Brisbane on 3 December, after which Adelaide will host a day-night test. The traditional Boxing Day and New Year Tests will be staged as usual in Melbourne and Sydney. The Adelaide Test will be India’s first day-night affair in Australia.

The series is expected to fetch $ 300 million for the Australian board which has been overshadowed by the epidemic.

CA, which is desperate to host the series even at the cost of the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled in October-November, had also suggested hosting all Test matches at one or two venues to provide a bio-safe environment. . But he thought of several previous places of BCCI and the Indian board agreed to it.

“We don’t have a problem with the itinerary. If they (CA) are convinced to host the series in the traditional way, then there is nothing like that. They think they have the situation under control there. But both the board things. BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal told TOI on Wednesday that there would be flexibility in the program.

The uncertainty still looms over the tour, depending on the prevalence of coronovirus and travel restrictions in the countries concerned at the time. It is understood that Venue can turn into a stadium only if the coronovirus situation in Australia deteriorates. A BCCI source said, “Both boards agree with the current situation on the subject. Things can go back to one place if the situation worsens.”

Whether or not spectators will be allowed inside the stadium will depend on government regulations of the time. ICC SOPs suggested that a limited seating option may be considered to maintain social distance if the government allows the audience.

The Australian board has been particularly vulnerable to the epidemic, with big suspicions staging the T20 World Cup in October-November. If that event is postponed, a window can be opened for the Indian Premier League (IPL) at that time.

“It is not that the BCCI is insisting on postponing the T20 World Cup. It is between the CA and the ICC. If the CA can assure the ICC that they can host the World Cup, the BCCI will have no objection. Will not. It will be discussed in the ICC meeting. On Thursday, “a top BCCI official told TOI.

Australia has seen a sharp decline in the number of Kovid-19 cases in the last month. As of Wednesday, the country has had a total of 7000 infections in three months with only 470 active cases.
