India is disturbing peace in the region, FM

IslamabadForeign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Monday said that India was supporting terrorist activities in Pakistan and thus posed a serious threat to peace in the region.

In a statement, the Foreign Minister called on the international community to take note of India’s continued efforts to undermine peace in the region.

Qureshi said India was playing a disruptive role in the Afghan peace process because it did not want peace and stability to prevail.

He said that Pakistan was committed to countering India’s nefarious designs by highlighting them on the diplomatic front, and was committed to safeguarding the country’s interests at all costs.

He said that Pakistan would continue to expose India’s nefarious intentions, adding that the government had made contacts with friendly countries at the UN and Security Council level.

The Secretary of State said the government will be engaged with the new administration of the United States as President Joe Biden takes office on January 20.

He said that Biden had been the chairman of the foreign relations committee as a senator and besides visiting Pakistan, he was also familiar with the region.

He expressed his intention to write a letter to the new US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken soon in order to further the Pak-US relations.

Regarding the Pakistan Democratic Alliance, he described it as a “negative alliance of people with different views” aimed at putting pressure on institutions to withdraw corruption cases.

He said that PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman had made two major announcements, one was to resign from the Assembly and the other was about the Long March, both of which had failed.

He said that Pakistan Peoples Party has backed down from the call for resignations after which PML-N has clearly shown that there is no unity in its ranks.
