India predicted for the third Test: Ajinkya Rahane and co. Sydney likely to make two changes – Cricket

After a memorable win over MCG to regain the series in level pegging, the Ajinkya Rahane-led Indian team will continue the same form in the third Test in Sydney. The Indian team is expected to make some changes, as pacer Umesh Yadav, who was in superb form in the first two games with the new ball, was out of the series due to a calf muscle. Also, opener Rohit Sharma will play his first match of the Sydney tour.

Here is our list of India’s projected XI for the third test in SCG:

Shubman Gill: Shubman Gill performed well in the first Test and scored 45 and 35 * off the bat. He can push himself ahead of Mayank Agarwal to become Rohit Sharma’s opening partner.

Rohit Sharma: Rohit Sharma has rejoined the Indian team and will play his first match of the season at the SCG. He is likely to replace Mayank Agarwal, who has struggled in the first two Tests.

Cheteshwar Pujara: Cheteshwar Pujara has not been his best in the tour so far, but it is only a matter of innings when he can change things around him. He will not be dropped by any means.

Ajinkya Rahane (c): Ajinkya Rahane not only scored a century but also showed why he is the vice-captain of India in the longest format. His leadership skills were on display and he would be the biggest threat to Australia.

Hanuma Vihari: Hanuma Vihari got off to a good start in the first innings, but could not capitalize on it. He is likely to retain his position as he brings stability to the lower middle order.

Rishabh Pant (wk): Rishabh Pant’s partnership with Ajinkya Rahane in the MCG was one of the major turning points of the match which helped bring India under control. He is a player who is likely to retain his place despite Wriddhiman Saha being in the team.

Ravindra Jadeja: Ravindra Jadeja once again showed why he is a fully capable all-rounder in the team when Hardik Pandya is not around. The return of Jadeja has changed the Indian team.

Ravichandran Ashwin: Despite not assisting the spinners in Australia, R Ashwin remained impressed with the ball in the first two Tests. Ashwin can reverse the game at any time, and he is an asset in India’s bowling line up.

T. Natarajan: T Natarajan is likely to replace Umesh Yadav despite Shardul Thakur joining the squad. Natarajan was impressive in ODIs and T20Is, and he can provide a left-handed option for India, which could be helpful in Sydney.

Mohammad Siraj: Mohammad Siraj made a perfect start for India in the MCG in which he took 5 wickets to help India win the match. The right-handed seamer is likely to play in Sydney again.

Jasprit Bumrah: Jasprit Bumrah has been impressive with the new ball as well as the old. He is the leader in bowling attack.

India’s projected XI vs Australia for the third Test: Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, T Natarajan, Mohammad Siraj, Jaspreet Bumrah
