BENGALURU: Indian men and women hockey teams have resumed outdoor training here in a “systematic and phased” manner after a two-month hiatus due to a coronovirus-forced nationwide lockdown.
Hockey India (HI) reported that national teams started outdoor training on Monday following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Sports Authority of India.
“Sports activities on the playground for both Senior Male and Senior Women’s Core Probables Group at Sports Authority of India, Bengaluru Campus started in a systematic and phased manner with all the criteria under SOP on Monday 1 June 2020, followed by both teams Gaya, ”HI said in a statement.

“SAI, Bangalore has ensured that all safety measures are in accordance with government guidelines and SOP to ensure safe environment for sports safety. All players are also informed and well aware of SOP norms. ”
The lockdown imposed in late March left players stuck indoors at the SAI facility. Last month, the cook’s death at the Center due to cardiac arrest had also made the residents uneasy. Cook was later revealed to have tested positive for COVID-19.
“As players are returning to the pitch after a two-month hiatus, they will start with limited hours and stick to basic sports activities at an early stage to avoid any possibility of injury.
The statement said, “Players from both teams are struggling with the new situation, but the coaching staff has prepared to pay special attention to giving the players enough time to adjust the daily schedule with the new norms.” . ”
