According to 24 News HD TV channel, the Punjab government on Saturday banned I’tikaf (isolation during the last 10 days of Ramadan).
The endowment department had banned Itikaf and a notification has also been issued in this regard last night. The department claimed that it had taken this decision after the worst situation of corona virus in Punjab province.
Following the implementation of this ban, no one will be able to hold I’tikaf Mosque which will start from Monday 21st Ramadan (May 03). Therefore, no one could now sit in large numbers in the open areas for special arrangements like I’tikaf or Sher I’tikaf in a large number of mosques.
Generally, I’tikaf lasted for nine to ten days from the 21st of Ramadan and the devout Chand Rawat (just one night before Eid-ul-Fitr) returned to his social life. Traditionally, family members bathe devotees in flower petals and wear some money and clothes as a token of respect and sympathy.
