Jamaat-e-Islami decided not to vote in the Senate elections yesterday

The Jamaat-e-Islami on Thursday decided not to vote in tomorrow’s election for Senate chairman and deputy chairman.

Jamaat-e-Islami Central Secretary Information Qaiser Sharif confirmed that the only Jamaat-e-Islami senator, Mushtaq Ahmed, would not vote in tomorrow’s meeting. He said that the senators of Jamaat-e-Islami would not attend the Senate session. Jamaat-e-Islami MNA Chitrali also did not vote in the March 3 Senate election.

The Senate, the upper house of parliament, will hold its much-awaited session on Friday (tomorrow) where 48 newly elected senators will be sworn in but will appear to participate in the election of the chairman and deputy chairman. On Thursday, 24 News News TV channel reported that there is a nail-biting competition.
