RANCHI: Out of 3.5 lakh returns in Jharkhand since May 1, about 88,500 have been returned to the state government centers, according to an official, on Wednesday.
By 26 May, 3.50 lakh laborers had returned as the state government allowed 80 trains to be brought back.
The official said that more than 100,000 laborers are expected to return to the state by June 10. Most of the returns kept in quarantine were from Maharashtra, West Bengal, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
With the return of laborers, the number of coronavirus cases has increased. So far, 440 people have tested positive in the state.
At the request of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Central Government has given permission to bring stranded laborers, who cannot come back via flights by bus or train.
According to a state government press release on Wednesday, 180 workers will return from Mumbai via Air Asia flight on Thursday morning.
