The Jammu and Kashmir cadre of IPS, IAS and Indian Forest Service (IFoS) were merged with the AGMUT cadre on Thursday and its officers will now be posted by the central government.
According to the notification signed by President Ram Nath Kovind and issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, members of the IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service will now become part of AGMUT (Arunachal, Goa, Mizoram) for the existing cadre of Jammu and Kashmir. And Union Territories) cadre.
Now, officers of Jammu and Kashmir cadre can be deployed in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and any union territory.
Necessary amendments can be made by the Central Government in the respective cadre allocation rules.
The notification states that the officers borne or allotted for the AGMUT cadre will work as per the rules laid down by the Central Government.
The move comes a year after the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was repealed under Article 370 of the Constitution and in August 2019, the state was divided into union territories.
