Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, S Suresh Kumar, in the letter of the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, argued that TV has been considered the most suitable media for the home as a center of learning of students in this challenging period. Suresh Kumar said, accordingly, DPI decided to continue the teaching learning process through TV media in Kannada medium. Noting that Karnataka has 9 regional language government schools including Kannada, English and Urdu, Suresh Kumar asked the students to cater and considering a long term strategy to run the schools while maintaining social distance, Karnataka This process is urgently required to have at least three exclusive channels.
Suresh Kumar reminded Javadekar that he already had discussions with local officials of Prasar Bharati with DPI officials and assured to provide a three-hour, six-hour time slot in the existing DD channel – Chandana. The process of content creation by teachers is going on internally. As the government is facing difficulties to meet the capital expenditure at the present time, the ministry should help to exclude the state, he said.
