Khadim Hussain Rizvi passed away in Lahore

Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, head of Tehreek-e-Lubaik Pakistan (TLP), has died in Lahore at the age of 54.

The cause of his death was not immediately clear.

His death was confirmed by Asif Jalali, head of another TLP faction.

The 54-year-old wheelchair-bound preacher was a former employee of the Pakistani government and hails from Attock District, Punjab Province, Pakistan.

The TLP had planned to gather and march from Rawalpindi Press Club to Faizabad in Islamabad last week against the publication of a bizarre publication by the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. It also demanded a boycott of French products and deportation of the French ambassador from Islamabad.

We are not emotional or obsessive. The people who bombed Syria on the eve of Eid and hanged Saddam Hussein are fanatics. We are only talking about the glory of our prophet. Whenever you talk about Islam, your tongue slips. People need to control their language, “Rizvi said in a speech in Karachi last week.
