Kolkata: The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday promised to support the West Bengal Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in the wake of Super Cyclone MFAN, which has badly affected the eastern state.

A KKR statement said, “KKR, along with the MK Foundation, announced a number of initiatives to support the government’s current efforts to battle Amfan.”

“Kolkata Knight Riders has committed to contribute to the Chief Minister Relief Fund of West Bengal.

“The cyclone has left many homeless and devoid of basic necessities. The KKR Assistance initiative will cater to many locations in West Bengal and will help in distributing essential kits to the affected people, especially in satellite cities / districts.

“KKR Plant A6 Expedition, led by Juhi Chawla Mehta, has worked tirelessly for years in planting trees in Kolkata. KKR has pledged to plant and replenish the 5000 trees lost in the cyclone,” it added Gone.

Announcing these initiatives, KKR CEO and Managing Director Venky Mysore said: “The state of West Bengal and the City of Joy have been special to us in many ways. The people of Kolkata and WB have embraced KKR and have lost their love and affection. The condition has extended support. Over the years. This is a small effort from our side to provide some relief to the affected people. ”

The cyclone devastated scores of dead people in various coastal cities and towns following the landslide last Wednesday and devastated the region with gusty wind and rain.

The 13th edition of the IPL is currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has put the world on a deadlock.
