New Delhi: More than 6,000 fresh Kovid-19 infections were reported in India on Monday for the fourth day running, but the number was slightly lower than the number recorded in the previous three days, a drop of more than 600, mainly in Maharashtra. Sunday with a record high of 3,041 cases in the state.

Maharashtra, the worst affected by the epidemic, recorded 2,436 new cases on Monday, down from the previous day’s figure of more than 3,000. Of these, 1,430 fresh infections occurred in Mumbai, which counted 31,972 cases out of a total of 52.667 in the state. Deaths in the city crossed the four-figure mark at 1,026. The state toll has increased to 1,695.
Tamil Nadu’s Kovid-19 boom continued unabated with more than 805 cases found on Monday, reaching 17,082, and health officials blamed it on the influx of people from other states, particularly Maharashtra.
Kovid-19’s death continued uninterruptedly in March Gujarat, as more than 30 people killed the virus in 24 hours, bringing the toll to 888. The state recorded 405 positive cases, taking the total to 14,46 8.
Four people died in Kovid-19 in Rajasthan on Monday, taking the death toll in the state to 167, while the virus was tested in 272 people. The number of positive cases has increased to 7,300.
