On Thursday, 24 News HD TV channel reported that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started awarding prizes to imams.
The provincial government has issued a three-month stipend to imams across the province. Imams will receive a quarterly stipend. The first stipend has been released for the first quarter of the financial year, July to September.
KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan fulfilled his promise by giving a stipend to the Imams. He had presided over a meeting of the endowment department in January this year and announced the awarding of imams.
About 22,000 imams of mosques in the province have been given a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000. According to the announcement of the Chief Minister, these stipends will cost Rs 227.2 million per month while more than Rs 2.5 billion will be spent annually.
